Georgian Patriarch: Diplomacy and peaceful solution of problems should be main arm in relations with Neighbours

The main arm should be diplomacy and peaceful resolution of problems for such a small country as Georgia in foreign policy, especially in relations with neighboring states. His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II said in his Easter epistle to the Government.
“Also it is necessary to start a direct dialogue with the Abkhazians and Ossetians to restore trust between our peoples. They must realize that the process of world globalization is underway; we still have to live together. I do not know how it is acceptable to them, it is the only way for their salvation,” he said.
The patriarch also believes that “it is necessary to take into account the fact that if this conflict is the result of the confrontation of the international forces, naturally, without them it would be impossible to resolve it.” “But everyone should know that other values are in opposition to our sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity does not exist”, – he stressed.
“I hope and believe that sooner or later Georgia will become united. I believe also in the fact that nothing is impossible for God. The main thing is looking for truth and God’s justice, then he will help us,” – he said.
