Georgian Orthodox Church Slams TV Channels For ‘Aggressiveness’
OCP News Service – 24/7/21
Tiblisi-Georgia: The Georgian Orthodox Patriarchate slammed a number of TV channels stating that the Church has been under attack for a long time by certain forces. The Church also criticised foreign embassies, other organizations and political parties for propagating psychological violence, obstructing civil peace and attacks against the Church. The Church has accused three channels namely Mtavari Arkhi, Formula, and TV Pirveli of hate speech against Patriarch Ilia and the Church.
The statement was released in the light of several accusations made by journalists against the church for supporting its clergy for engaging in homophobic activities. Cameraman Aleksandre Lashkarava of TV Pirveli was recently killed after the far right-wing attack on the offices of the Tibilisi Pride Parade.
