Georgian Orthodox Church Slams Pride Week Celebrations

Tiblisi-Georgia: The Georgian Orthodox Church in a statement on 2th of July urged the members of the European Parliament responsible for LGBTQ issues, to refrain from supporting and encouraging Tbilisi Pride. The GOC also accused the organizers of the Tiblisi Pride Parade by stating that they are promoting a non-traditional way of life under the guise of protecting human rights.
The pride parade in the capital city of Georgia will take place from the 1st to the 5th of July. The US Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly Degnan, has asked the authorities to ensure safety for the participants of the parade.
