Gambella State, EOC vow to strength Cooperation

Gambella, February 15 (WIC) – The Ethiopian Orthodox Church and the Gambelle State have vowed to cooperate closely in the areas of development and peace.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a nations and nationalities boarding school here on Sunday, Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church, Abune Pawlos, said that EOC is keen to work in partnership with Gambela State.
The Patriarch said EOC would provide all the necessary and appropriate supports to strengthen the development and peace endeavors underway in the state.
According to the Patriarch, inhabitants of the Gambella State were denied access to various facilities during the past regimes. Chief of Gambella State, Omod Ubong, on his part said that the state government warmly welcomes the pledge made by the Church to assist the state’s peace and development efforts. The boarding school has enrolled 37 orphans drawn from Anuwa, Nuer, Mezenger, Komo and Opo nationalities. The school will also enroll additional 120 orphans after six months.
