Funeral Service of Very Rev. Fr. Shnork Kasparian
March-April 2014
On March 27, under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; the Burial Service of Very Rev. Fr. Shnork Kasparian, Spiritual Servant in the Eastern Armenian Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America, and one of the senior Members of the Brotherhood of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, was held in the monastic cemetery of the Mother See. Present at the Service were Diocesan Primates, Members of the Brotherhood of the Mother See, relatives and friends of the deceased. Very Rev. Father Shnork of blessed memory passed away on March 3, in a hospital in Bellville, IL, USA. During the service the clergy extended their prayers to God for the repose and peace of the soul of the Very Reverend Father.
Following the Burial Service, the Catholicos of All Armenians addressed the members of the Brotherhood and Father Shnork’s relatives and friends, sorrowfully noting that the Armenian Church had lost a clergyman who was greatly devoted to the Church, nation and Homeland; of unfaltering faith and deep awareness of the love for God. His Holiness highlighted that Father Shnork was an admirable individual with his church- loving service and loyalty, and with his chaste and humble bearing and life. His Holiness Karekin II was confident that the positive memory of Father Shnork would continue inspiring the young clergymen with his church- devoted humanitarian endeavors as well. Years ago the “Shnork Kasparian” home for the aged was established in Vagharshapat under the sponsorship of the Father Shnork, which will continue to operate in the future, supported by a fund created with Father Shnork’s personal savings. Father Shornk of blessed memory also left his personal library to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, considering the education of clergymen of great importance.
At the conclusion, extending his prayers for Father Shornk of blessed memory, the Catholicos of All Armenians wished that God’s blessings descend upon the final resting place of Very Rev. Fr. Shnork Kasparian.
