Funeral Rite for the Late Archbishop Mesrob Krikorian

On January 30, the funeral rites for His Eminence Archbishop Mesrob Krikorian was held in the cemetery of the Brotherhood of Holy Etchmiadzin located at the Mother See. Under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; the body of Archbishop Mesrob was placed in the St. Gayane Monastery where he received the last anointment. On this sorrowful occasion, His Holiness reflected on the character and devoted service of Archbishop Mesrob.

His Holiness emphasized that he knew Archbishop Mesrob as a true lover of Etchmiadzin, a devoted priest who zealously acted in defense of the interests of the Mother See and until the last moment of his life, lived with that perception and with the same dedication to serve the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church.

His Holiness also reflected on the scientific-educational activities and successful life of the Archbishop Mesrob in the ecumenical field.

The Catholicos of All Armenians added that the death of distinguished Archbishop Mesrob resulted in a great loss and sorrow to the Armenian Church. At the conclusion, His Holiness expressed his wish that the soul of Archbishop Mesrob continue rejoicing in heavenly harbors.

His Holiness also directed his message to the young members of the Brotherhood to recognize Archbishop Mesrob for his great accomplishments, be inspired by his character and bear his same spirit in their souls.

Following the service, under the presidency of His Grace Bishop Hovnan Hakobyan, Grand Sacristan of the Mother See, the burial service of the late Archbishop was held. The body of His Eminence Archbishop Mesrob Krikorian was interred in the Monastic cemetery.
