French Movie Star Gerard Depardieu Joins Orthodox Church

Paris-France: Multiple award-winning French actor Gerard Depardieu converted to the Orthodox Church. He was baptized into Orthodoxy on the 4th of September, at the Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral in Paris.
The actor maintains close ties with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He was granted Russian citizenship in 2013.
Depardieu is the recipient of several prominent awards like the Piper-Heidsieck Award, Silver Medallion Award, Career Golden Lion, Grand Prix Special des Amériques and so on. He has been nominated for the Best Actor for César Awards (the national film award of France) 17 times and in addition, received a nomination for the academy awards in 1990.
