Fr. Nicolae Lauruc – The New Vicar-Head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Vicariate of the Romanian Patriarchate

Ukraine: Fr. Nicolae Lauruc has officially assumed the charge as the Vicar-head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Vicariate of the Romanian Patriarchate, reports Basilica News Agency. Fr. Laurus served his first Liturgy in his new office at the Orthodox Church in Ruscova, Maramures County, Romania.
The Ukrainian Orthodox Vicariate is an autonomous administrative ecclesiastical unit, that is canonically dependent on the Romanian Patriarchate. The Vicariate serves Ukrainian Orthodox faithful living in Romania. It is administratively autonomous and uses the Julian calendar, unlike the Romanian Church.
