A formal academy was held late Thursday in Skopje in honor of the national holiday of Serbian community in Macedonia – St. Sava – the first Archbishop of Serbian Orthodox Church, originator of Serbian legislation and literature, founder of the Monastery of Hilandar on Mount Athos, and a diplomat.

“Serbs are constituent part of the Macedonian society, taking active part in the cultural, social and sports life of the country. They have been contributing to Macedonia’s development and realization of its strategic priorities,” Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski said at the event.

Nourishing mutual relations, he said, is a guideline to present and future generations for the cooperation of the peoples of Macedonia and Serbia.

Representatives of the Macedonian Government, Parliament, as well as officials from Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro were among the academy’s attendants.
