First Ethiopian Orthodox Church to be Built in the United Arab Emirates

Addis Ababa- Ethiopia: The leadership of the United Arab Emirates has graciously granted permission to construct the first-ever Ethiopian Orthodox Church in the country. The official announcement was issued by the Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abyi Ahmed on 14th February 2020 during his official working visit to UAE.

As per the information gathered, the Church will be established in Dubai. The official approval comes after 30 long years of efforts from the part of the Ethiopian Orthodox community in the Emirates. In return, Dr. Abyi sincerely thanked the leadership of the United Arab Emirates.

It is worth applauding the efforts put forward by the late lamented Patriarch Abune Paulose and Bishops for the welfare of the Ethiopian Orthodox community in the Gulf region, especially in UAE.
