Ecumenical Patriarch Serves Liturgy at the Historic Sümela Orthodox Monastery in Turkey

Turkey: Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew I of Constantinople served Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the feast of the Dormition of Theotokos at the historic Sümela Orthodox Monastery in Turkey on the 15th of August 2021.
The Patriarch prayed for the victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, survivors of forest fires in the south and floods in the Black Sea region. He also expressed his gratitude to the Turkish President Erdoğan for reopening the monastery to the public.
Sümela is a Greek Orthodox monastery dedicated to the Virgin Mary established in AD 386.
