Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew starts his visit to Bucharest

Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew is paying a visit to Romania at the invitation of BOR Patriarch Daniel. He is expected to attend the events celebrating the patron saint of the BOR Patriarchy in Bucharest. Bartholomew, who was welcomed by Patriarch Daniel and a host of hierarchs, is accompanied by Metropolitan Bishop John of Pergam and Emanuel of France.
On Wednesday, the Day of St. Demetrius the New, the patron saint of Bucharest City, the church service will be conducted by Patriarch Bartholomew and Patriarch Daniel alongside a host of Romanian and Greek Orthodox hierarchs, priests and deacons.
This is the first official visit to Romania of Patriarch Bartholomew after the enthroning of Daniel as BOR Patriarch. Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople Bartholomew will be paying a visit to Romania at the invitation of Patriarch Daniel of the Romanian Christian Orthodox Church (BOR), which visited the Ecumenical Patriarchy in 2009.
