Ukrainian Orthodox Church
On March 18, Secretary for the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church Bishop Alexander of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy celebrates his 33rd birthday anniversary.
On his anniversary His Grace celebrated the Divine Liturgy of the Presanctified Gifts in the wooden church of All Saints in the place of construction of the Cathedral of Resurrection (Zaliznychne shosse, 3).
Concelebrating with Vladyka Alexander were Bishop Nycodym of Volodymyr-Volynskyy and Kovel and the Kyiv clergy. Praying at the Divine service was Bishop Volodymyr of Shepetivka and Slavuta.
Following the service His Grace Alexander received greetings on the occasion of his birthday anniversary on the part of the reverend hierarchs, clergymen and the God-loving flock. During the day Vladyka was greeted by the co-workers of the Kyiv Metropolis led by Bishop Panteleimon of Vasylkiv, Bishop Alexander’s Secretary archpriest Andriy Hoenko together with the clergymen of the Kyiv Diocese, subdeacons of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr among whom His Grace had been the senior for many years, chairman of the State Committee for Nationalities and Religions Yuriy Reshetnikov, chairmen and members of the Synodal Departments of the UOC, relatives, friends and colleagues etc.
Vladyka Alexander received a special greeting from the head of the International Public organization “Gregory Kirpa Foundation” Serhiy Demchuk, who bestowed on His Grace Alexander the order of St George the Trophy-bearer, 3rd degree and reported greetings from the cofounder Zhanna Kirpa.
To the point. The ministry of Bishop Alexander (Drabynko) to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is manifold. He is known as a scholar, and as the editor of the orthodox print and electronic media, as well as the host of the TV-programs “World of the Orthodoxy” and “Sophia”; he constantly accompanies His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr in his archpastoral visits to the dioceses and the pilgrimage trips to the holy sites, comments in the mass-media on the most important events from the life of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church; provides the newspapers, magazines and the web-sites with the photo materials on the events taking place in the framework of the primatial service of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr.
Note in particular, that for the last several years bishop Alexander has been the editor-in-chief of the official website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
