Economic crisis increases turnout at events honouring saints in Romania

BUCHAREST, Romania — Thousands of Romanians have attended a ceremony honouring a saint believed to help people recover stolen property and persuade thieves to give up crime.

Long lines formed all day Thursday at a church in Bucharest where people kissed the coffin of 3rd-century St. Mina, with some leaving letters at the grave asking for protection from theft.

Each year, mostly Christian Orthodox Romania honours dozens of saints at such ceremonies. But the turnout at these events has increased during the nation’s economic crisis. Romania accepted a €20 billion international loan in 2009, when its economy contracted by 7.1 per cent.

There is no indication the crisis has increased crime in the poor country, where the average salary is about €320 ($435) a month after tax.

547601 879846OK very first take a good appear at your self. What do you like what do you not like so significantly. Function on that which you do not like. But do not listen to other men and women their opinions do not matter only yours does. Function on having the attitude that this really is who you are and if they dont like it they can go to hell. 22106
