Death Toll in Cairo Church Explosion Rises to 26

The number of the deaths in Tuesday terror attack on Coptic Church Complex in the Egyptian capital of Cairo rose to 26, with at least three more wounded still in critical condition, Egyptian media reported.

CAIRO (Sputnik) — With a 70-year old victim succumbing to her injuries at the hospital, the number of the fatalities reached 26, MENA news agency said, citing the Egyptian Ministry of Health.

According to the outlet, 23 victims are being treated in the local hospitals, with three of the wounded in critical condition.

Daesh terrorist group claimed responsibility for the attack carried out by a 22-year-old suicide bomber, wearing a suicide vest. Tuesday’s explosion is the worst attack on Coptic Christian community since 2011, when a suicide bomber killed 23 people outside a church in Alexandria.
