Deacon Feodor Konyukhov becomes a Priest

Zaporozhye, December 21, Interfax – Renowned traveler Feodor Konyukhov was ordained priest in his “minor motherland” in Zaporozhye and is getting ready to become rector of the Holy Protection Church on Khortytsa Island.

Father Feodor who was a deacon of the Zaporozhye Diocese since this May was ordained priest in St. Nicholas Cathedral in Zaporozhye on St. Nicholas Day, December 19.

According to Bishop Iosif of Zaporozhye and Melitopol who ordained Fr. Feodor, the priestly orders will help him “not only preach, but conduct sacraments of Baptism, celebrate Liturgy, carry out missionary work in places where the light of Christ hasn’t reach yet.”

The priest in his interview to Interfax confessed that now he wants “to bless, to pray for, to meet those young guys, young sportsmen, young travelers who will climb the Everest or go around the world, or reach the cape or the North or South Pool.”

“This way is the best for me – to pray for them, to see them off, to meet them! I arrived to such a decision when I was in Antarctica, I decided that I need to pray rather than travel,” Fr. Feodor said.

During the next 40 days after the consecration he will have spiritual practice in the Melitopol Monastery of St. Sava.
