Cyprus Church Express Gratitude to Boy George for Returning the Icon of Christ

Nicosia- Cyprus: The Church of Cyprus expressed gratitude to Boy George (George Alan O’Dowd), the English singer and songwriter for returning an icon of Jesus Christ that was believed to be stolen from a Church in the Turkish occupied Northern part of the island. According to boy George that he purchased the icon in 1985 from a London-based vendor.
Boy George who was not aware of the history of the icon handed over the same to Bishop Porfyrios in London last Tuesday. Archbishop Chrysostomos II lauded the singer for the kind gesture stating that he did the right thing by returning the icon to its original owner. “We thank him and if he ever comes to Cyprus, we will certainly welcome him” stated the Archbishop.
