Cultural Artistic Show of “Saint Nicholas in the Middle of the Children” – 2015
Saturday, 5 December 2015, at 17.00 hours, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church, attended the 7th edition of the cultural artistic show entitled “Saint Nicholas in the Middle of Children”, held at Michael the Brave National College of Bucharest.
The show was held in two sections including three mini-concerts and three mini-plays of the children from the three deaneries of Bucharest.
At the end of the show, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel delivered a message entitled Ancient Carol: Holy Chant and Urge to Mercyin which he showed that the Church urges to mercy and generosity both through words and through the carols and plays performed by children with much talent. Thus, the partnerships of practical collaboration between parishes and schools show their results in a work designed to revive our traditional spirituality, often threatened by the baleful influence of secularisation. The children teach us the pure love through their purity, smiles on their faces, light in their souls, and abnegation and effort for performing the artistic show. Let us try now, in the perspective of the Holidays, to follow their example: to be kinder, purer, and brighter in our lives and in doing good deeds for others.
After delivering the message, the Patriarch of Romania awarded Sanctus Stephanus Magnus distinction to Mr. Sever Popa, director of Michael the Brave National College.
The show is dedicated to pupils from the 1 to 6 forms, in order to promote the religious feasts, cultivate love for saints and educate the pupils to respect the traditional values and to affirm their own religious, cultural and national identity. It is also intended to stimulate the pupils gifted for music and poetry, contributing in this way to the development of the national culture.
