Church Publishes Names of 21 Assyrians Killed By ISIS in Qaryatain

(AINA) — The Syriac Orthodox Church has published the names of the 21 Assyrians who were killed by ISIS in the town of al-Qaryatain, Syria, which was captured by ISIS in August, 2015 (AINA 2015-08-07). ISIS captured 250 Assyrians in the initial attack.

ISIS released 71 Assyrians from Qaryatain on the following dates:
- January 29, 2016: 6 released
- October 14, 2016: 50 released
- September 4, 2015: 15 released
But ISIS still is holding 179 Assyrians from Qaryatain. Some reports indicate that they have been moved to Raqqa, the stronghold of ISIS in Syria.
