Coptic Orthodox Convention in Fiji

The Coptic Orthodox Church has proposed to build an orphanage center in Legalega, Nadi which will house 100 homeless children.

This was revealed at a dinner hosted for Bishop Suriel and 30 priests and deacons from the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Melbourne and affiliated regions earlier this week.

Speaking on behalf of the Bishop, Father Mark Attalla revealed the church has other plans that will benefit the poor mainly in the education sector.

Father Mark said they are now waiting for the Fiji Government to approve their proposal.

He said one of their missions is to take care of the neglected and unfortunate children of Fiji, which is also one of the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Father Mark said the church believes in developing young people who can give something back to the local community.

Meanwhile, Fiji is hosting the first ever annual Coptic Orthodox Church priest convention this year.

The convention started in Sigatoka will end on Friday.
