Catholicos Rejects ‘Ecumenical Interference’ in Malankara Church Dispute

Malankara-Kerala-India: His Holiness Marthoma Paulose II (Catholicos on the Apostolic Throne of St. Thomas, Malankara Metropolitan, Moopan and Chief Custodian of the Malankara Nazaranieth and the Primate of the Indian Orthodox Malankara Church) has outrightly rejected the so-called ecumenical mediation put forward by the heads of the various Christian denomination in Kerala with regards to the Malankara Church dispute. The Catholicos stated that no mediation can be placed above the Supreme Court verdict which is in favor of the Malankara Church.

The Supreme Court of India has already provided the right solution. The dispute is an internal affair of the Malankara Church, and the Church does not expect any sort of interference in her internal matters, stated the Catholicos.

An unsuccessful call was made by the primates of the two Uniate Rites, the Marthoma Church and the Church of South India to interfere in the internal affairs of the Malankara Church.
