Catholicos of Great House of Cilicia forms Commission for Protection of Western Armenian
13/7/2012
At the initiative of Catholicos Aram I of the Great House of Cilicia of the Armenian Apostolic Church, a congress devoted to the current state of Western Armenian was convened several years ago.
And reflecting on the serious challenges which Western Armenian faces, the congress had proposed that the Great House of Cilicia initiate the formation of a commission, or an academy, for the protection of Western Armenian.
Over the course of the past months, Catholicos Aram I held respective consultations with Armenian community leaders, cultural and learning institutions, and with armenologists.
And, in light of these consultations, a close-to-25-member Commission, comprising Diaspora Armenians from different parts of the world, was formed.
And the said Commission’s members from Lebanon on Thursday held their inaugural session, which was moderated by Catholicos Aram I.
