Catholicos of All Armenians starts St. Petersburg Visit

The head of the Armenian Apostolic Church on Monday arrived in the Russian northern city of St. Petersburg to attend events dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the local Armenian community.

According to the Mother See of Holy Echmiadzin’s information system, the Catholicos of All Armenians began his pontifical tour by visiting the Armenian St. Katarine Church in St. Petersburg.

The Armenian spiritual leader also reportedly attended a book exhibition at Saltykov-Schedrin Library.

After completing his visit to St. Petersburg, Catholicos Karekin II is due to pay a visit to Latvia on June 29. The next day in the Baltic nation’s capital of Riga the head of the Armenian Church is due to preside over a ceremony of consecration of the local Armenian Surb Grigor Lusavorich (St. Gregory the Illuminator) Church.
