Catholicos of All Armenians Receives Mr. Alexander Poryadochni

On June 8, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, received the poet Mr. Alexander Poryadochni. Accompanying him was Mrs. Rima Varjapetyan, President of Armenia’s Jewish Community.

The Catholicos of All Armenians congratulated Mr. Poryadochni on the occasion of the publication of the Armenian translation of his poem entitled “Silver Thread”. The poem is devoted to the past of the Armenian people, its unfaltering faith and the heroic battle of Artsakh. The work was recently presented in Armenia. His Holiness offered his blessings and appreciation to the Jewish poet for his warm attitude towards the Armenian people, noting that his poem is a great service to the Armenian people.

Reflecting on the poet’s fictional reproduction of the agony and sufferings of the Armenian people, their triumphant spirit of faith and positivism throughout history, the Catholicos of All Armenians also addressed the similarities and current close relations between the Armenian and Jewish people. “Our two nations of the same destiny have always been harassed and exiled, losing their countries. But due to a deep realization of their faith and God’s boundless mercy, they have always faced all challenges, reviving each time”, highlighted His Holiness Karekin II.

Mr. Alexander Poryadochni expressed his love and reverence for the Armenian people, their historic past and rich culture. The poet reflected on the arduous process of writing the poem “Silver Thread”, noting that the emotions were a source of great inspiration and encouragement in his creative process.

At the conclusion of the meeting His Holiness extended his prayer to the Almighty to keep all humanity in peace.

Present at the meeting was His Eminence Archbishop Vicken Aykazyan, Diocesan Legate of the Eastern Diocese of the Armenian Church of North America in Washington and Director of the Inter- Church Relations of the Diocese.
