Catholicos of All Armenians Receives Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia
On December 22, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mrs. Judith Farnvert, the newly appointed Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia.
Congratulating the ambassador on the occasion of her appointment, His Holiness reflected on the existing relations of the two countries, as well as the relations between the Armenian and Anglican Churches. His Holiness noted the role of the Armenian community of the Great Britain in strengthening those relations.
During the meeting they discussed the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church’s mission of preserving the national identity in the life of Armenians, the Armenian Genocide and the heavy losses suffered by the Armenian Church during the Soviet period, and the current challenges.
The Catholicos of All Armenians introduced the Ambassador to the current educational and social programs of the Mother See, and as well as the actions undertaken by the spiritual leaders of the region, to achieve a peaceful settlement to the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.
The meeting was attended by His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of External Relations and Protocol Department of the Mother See.
