Catholicos of All Armenians Received Iran’s Minister of Justice

On May 31, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Mohammad Mustafa Pur, Minister of Justice of the Islamic Republic of Iran; and his delegation.
Welcoming the Minister’s visit to Armenia, His Holiness expressed satisfaction that day by day the cooperation between the two countries is expanding in all areas. And a significant increase has been observed in the Armenian-Iranian relations since Armenian independence.
With appreciation, His Holiness reflected on the caring attitude shown towards the Armenian community in Iran, and the special care given to Armenian sanctuaries and ecclesiastical institutions.
The Minister of Justice expressed his happiness for the occasion of the meeting, also highlighting the strengthening of interstate relations and close collaboration in various fields. Reflecting on the events in April, Minister Pur expressed his concerns, reaffirming Iran’s support for a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Karabakh.
During the meeting, the Catholicos of All Armenians and the Minister of Justice discussed the challenges facing humanity and in this respect, that the role of religion was appreciated in the modern world.
In his remarks, the Minister spoke about the painful manifestations of extremism and the danger of being estranged from God, stressing the need for peaceful coexistence of religions and for joint efforts towards tolerance, so that disasters be positively dealt with in the life of humanity.
His Holiness noted that the problems of life – pain and suffering, indicate that human beings have stopped living for the glory of God; and profit and power have become dominant today. Despite these devastating phenomena, His Holiness expressed confidence that benevolent people will be able to change the course of the world with their zeal and prevent the spread of evil.
At the conclusion, His Holiness also confirmed that the peaceful coexistence and friendly relations between the two nations can serve as a good example to the world, to testify that religious differences are not a reason for war.
They also spoke about the spiritual educational programs and the developing cooperation in the sphere of justice.
