Catholicos of All Armenians Received HRH Princess Dina Mired of Jordan
Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin – 3/5/17
On April 28, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriach and Catholicos of All Armenians; received HRH Princess Dina Mired of Jordan and President of the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). She was accompanied by Dr. Armen Muradian, Rector of the Yerevan State Mkhitar Heratsi Medical University.
During the meeting, the Catholicos of All Armenians expressed his appreciation to the newly elected Union for International Cancer Control President, on the occasion of her visit to Armenia and participation in the Cancer Survivorship Research Conference, convened in Yerevan. Catholicos Karekin II stressed that Princess Dina is engaged in the Godly mission of saving people’s lives and inspiring hope to cancer patients.
His Holiness stressed the importance of the steps aimed at the development of Oncology in Armenia, which will promote cancer prevention and treatment. He spoke on the issue of awareness of the society; as well as the need to raise the level of health care. His Holiness detailed to Princess Dina the steps being undertaken by the Mother See in the health sector, His Holiness added that the Church constantly encourages its faithful to assist people with health problems, and with kindess, help relieve their pain and suffering.
Princess Dina reflected on the programs implemented by the UICC, in the fight against cancer, and share her impressions of her visit to Armenia. She also highlighted the role of religious institutions and leaders in cancer prevention and care of patients.
During the meeting, the Catholicos of All Armenians recalled his pastoral visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in 2000. They talked about the Armenian community in Jordan, as well as the cordial relations and peaceful coexistence of various national and religious communities in the country.
At the conclusion of the meeting, His Holiness conveyed his blessings to Princess Dina Mired and wished God’s support in her beneficial mission.
The meeting was attended by His Grace Bishop Moushegh Babayan, Administrative Director of the Mother See.
