Catholicos of All Armenians Received Chairman of Russia’s Central Election Commission

On December 7th, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Vladimir Churov, Chairman of Russia’s Central Election Commission, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. He was accompanied by Mr. Ivan Volynk, the extraordinary and plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of the Russian Federation to Armenia.

During the meeting, His Holiness reflected on the historically friendly and collaberative relations between the Armenian and Russian people, and expressed hope that they will expand and strengthen, to include new areas of cooperation.

In his remarks, Mr. Churov spoke about the centuries-long friendship between the two peoples, and also underscored the necessity for strengthening intercultural cooperation.

They also reflected on ecumenical relations, and on the peaceful settlement process for the Nagorno Karabagh Republic.

The meeting was attended by His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Realtions and Protocol Department of Mother See.
