Catholicos at ‘Muscat MGOC Sangamam’: Alleviate pain of the poor and share their suffering

PARUMALA, Kerala : HH Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulose II, Catholicos of the East and Malankara Metropolitan has called for sharing the suffering of the poor and downtrodden which will alleviate the pain of the poor. HH was addressing a public meeting at the Parumala Auditorium during the occasion of the ‘Muscat MGOC Sangamam’ held on March 4, 2012.
Metropolitans HGs Thomas Mar Athanasius, Metropolitan, Chengannur Diocese, Dr Yuhanon Mar Chrisostomos, Metropolitan, Niranam Diocese, Dr Joseph Mar Dionysius, and Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Ahmedabad Diocesan Metropolitan, Dr Biju Jacob, (IA & AS), Accountant General, Government of Kerala, Rev Fr James Geevarghese, Vicar, Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka, Biju Parumala, Secretary, Cherian P Thomas, Co-Secretary and Geevarghese Yohannan, General Convenor also spoke. National Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice Benjamin Koshy, who was the chief guest, also addressed the gathering.
The guests gave away funds for education, construction of houses, Jeeva Karunya funds for medical, Catholicate Centenary charity projects funds, Parumala International Cancer Care building funds were handed over to the members of the family and to the respective people.
The function also saw the fund distribution for the successful Thanal ‘Save A Life’ Cardiac Project for 2011-2012’. The project was made possible through the Dr K M Cherian Foundation Parumala Cardio Vascular Centre. Funds were distributed for the surgery of 60 deserving children. So far 38 surgeries have been performed and the remaining will be conducted in the coming months after the completion of their school exams this month.
The 40th year anniversary celebration of the Muscat Maha Edvaka was also launched from the same venue. The church established in 1972. Earlier under the Kolkotta Diocese, the over 1,500-odd members presently come under the new Ahmedabad Diocese since 2009.
Earlier, Valiya Bhava Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Didymus I inaugurated the family get-together for all its former vicars and church members at the Parumala Seminary auditorium.
Ahmedabad Diocese Metropolitan Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios who led the Holy Eucharist at the Parumala Church, delivered the presidential address.
The meeting was attended by several ex-vicars of MGOME like Rev Fr T A Jacob, Very Rev C M Philipose Ramban, Rev Fr Shaji M Baby and present Vicar Rev Fr James Geevarghese also spoke. The programme included a brief interaction, study class, group discussion among the gathering.
Members of the managing committee and committee conveners Geevarghese Yohannan, Jacobs Kuriakose, P K Koshy, Babu Varghese, P K Thomas, Jose Kayamkulam and Sam Varghese did a splendid job towards organizing the Sangamam.
