Bulgarian Orthodox Church marks Cherry All Souls’ Day

Sofia. Bulgarian Orthodox Church marks Cherry All Souls’ Day, the second big all souls’ day throughout the year.

It falls on the Saturday before Pentecost, this year it is June 11. The day is marked by all orthodox churches across the world and in Bulgaria it is named “cherry” after the most common fruit in the country at this time of the year. On this day Orthodox Christians commemorate the dead and pray for the remission of dead people’s sins.

All eparchies will serve requiems.
