Brunei Bans Christmas: Introduces Punishment for Formal Celebrations

Global: Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei has banned formal celebrations of Christmas. The celebrations was banned because it could damage the faith of Muslims. Christmas celebrations will only be permitted as a private affair with prior permission from the concerned authorities.

The Tiny conservative oil-rich state in Asia is under absolute Muslim Monarchy rule for several decades.
Last year Brunei introduced Sharia Criminal Law.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs stated that: “These enforcement measures are … intended to control the act of celebrating Christmas excessively and openly, which could damage the aqidah (beliefs) of the Muslim community.”

Muslims are banned from associating in any kind of Christians activities.
