Blessing of the Waters Service Held in the Mother See for the Newly Consecrated Victory Holy Muron

On October 04, under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; Divine Liturgy was celebrated in the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin. The celebrant was His Eminence Archbishop Kissag Mouradian, Primate of the Diocese of the Armenian Church in Argentina.

In His sermon, His Eminence reflected on the meaning of the cross and noted: “This is a period of the feasts dedicated to the Holy Cross… when we recall the cross, we don’t consider only the material cross, which is made of wood or metal, but we consider the crucified Savior, who took His cross to Golgotha and was crucified on it.

When we speak about the power of the cross, we talk about the power of the crucified Savior, who from the heights of Golgotha showed people the way to ascend to Heaven from earth through the cross. Moreover, the cross is not the end of the power of our faith, or the mission of Christ, because the empty tomb in Golgotha and the resurrection of Our Lord, was followed the cross. And as the apostle noted, if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is vain, your faith is also in vain. Therefore, the cross is a symbol of supreme sacrifice and patience and Christ, bearing His cross, went to Golgotha and through His crucifixion and blood redeemed human sins, showing the path of salvation”.

His Eminence also spoke about the meaning of the cross in the lives of the Armenian people.
“Our people faced and endured sufferings and difficulties in their lives in the same way. Surely, we know that there have been much pain and persecution in the life of our people, but the Armenian people have always trusted in the cross of Golgotha, believing that the Crucified One, who was nailed on the cross, has resurrected. And we with the power of our faith, we look upon the cross and are able to overcome all difficulties, keeping our faith and spirit not only in the Homeland, but also in all the Diaspora, where the Armenian Church and her community have their gaze fixed on the cross and the crucified Lord and believe in the glorious resurrection which followed the crucifixion”.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, under the presidency of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; a Blessing of the Waters Service was offered with the newly consecrated Victory Holy Muron from September 27.

Present at the Holy Service were benefactors of the Mother See, representatives from the Diocese of the Armenian Church of Australia and New Zealand who had participated in the Blessing of the Holy Muron in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
