Blessing of the Cultural-Missionary Centre of ‘Saint Hierarch Andrei Saguna’ of Sibiu
From 4-5 October 2014, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania pays a canonical visit to the Archdiocese of Sibiu. Today, 4 October, when arriving at the International Airport of Sibiu, the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church was met by His Eminence Laurentiu, Metropolitan of Transylvania, as well as by many officials.
Blessing of the Cultural-Missionary Centre of “Saint Hierarch Andrei Saguna” of Sibiu
To start with the visit, the Primate of our Church consecrated the Cultural-Missionary Centre of “Saint Hierarch Andrei Saguna” of Sibiu. The seat of “Basilica Travel” Pilgrimage Agency of the Romanian Patriarchate, a restoration and patrimonial conserving workshop, Trinitas Radio regional studio, and the seats of Trinitas Television channel local and of “Lumina” newspaper, Transylvania edition, have been arranged here. Eparchial counsellors, archpriests, priests from Sibiu and surroundings participated in the blessing service, as we learn from Trinitas Television channel.
The Patriarch of Romania congratulated all the employees of the Archdiocese of Sibiu who made the operation of the Cultural Missionary Centre possible and emphasised the role of the institutions housed here.
Radio, Television, and daily newspaper are missionary means today
During his speech, His Beatitude has also presented the missionary importance of the information means of the Romanian Patriarchate. “We have blessed here the spaces for the Pilgrimage Office of the Romanian Patriarchate, and for the Trinitas Radio and Television stations of the Romanian Patriarchate, where the representatives of “Lumina” publications will be also present. We are very glad because the Archdiocese of Sibiu provided this space with such a beautiful arrangement which encourages those who work here, also showing great care for the missionary work of the Church. Radio, Television, daily newspapers are missionary means today which bring great joy to our faithful not only because they are informed, but also because they can participate in the life of the Church in society and make possible finding new talents in mass media that can be revealed, cultivated and turned to good account”, the Patriarch of Romania said.
Distinctions and gifts
To end with, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel awarded the diploma of the “Brancovean Saints Martyrs” to rev Petru Madina, Economical Counsellor within the Archdiocese of Sibiu and to Mr Valer Ioan Dumitrean, Financial Counsellor of the Archdiocese of Sibiu. An icon of the Brancovean Saints Matyrs, books and mass media materials were also given to the representatives of Trinitas Radio station of Sibiu and to “Basilica Travel” regional office.
Religious events at “Brancoveanu – Sambata de Sus” monastery, county of Brasov
In the afternoon, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church will be at “Brancoveanu – Sambata de Sus” Monastery, county of Brasov. At 16.00 hours he will consecrate the chapel of the “Brancovean Saints Martyrs” in the precincts of the voievodal house of the monastery. At 18.30 hours, the Patriarch of Romania and the Metropolitan of Transylvania will met the delegation headed by His Grace Varlaam Ploiesteanul, Assistant Bishop to the Patriarch, who will bring the relics of Saint Constantine Brancoveanu.
