Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin – September 2016

On August 31, a Blessing of the Teachers service was offered on the eve of the 2016/17 Academic year. The service was offered in the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin and led by His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan, Director of the External Relations and Protocol Department of Mother See.

This traditional service was attended by Mr. Levon Mkrtchyan, Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia; rectors of higher educational institutions; members of the National Assembly Science, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport Standing Committee; representatives of State educational institutions; principals of kindergartens and secondary schools in various provinces; department heads of regional administrations, and Ministry staff.

The service began with the remarks of His Grace Bishop Vardan Navasardyan, Director of the Christian Education Center of Mother See. “Our greatest dream is that our 25-year young Republic becomes stronger day by day, firm in its foundations and pillars. Your mission is very important in this goal. With this in mind, we congratulate all of you, all those who are responsible for our education, our educators and teachers. By attending this beautiful service, you renew your vows and mind toward the great thing that we call a divine, pious mission”, noted Bishop Vardan. He expressed his wish that the efforts of the devoted educators richly succeed in the new Academic year, for the sake of a high-quality education for the new generations, and a peaceful and happy future for the peoples of the Homeland and Diaspora.

At the conclusion of the service, His Eminence Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan conveyed the love and blessings of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; on the occasion of the Day of Knowledge and the launch of the 2016-2017 Academic year.

His Eminence stressed that teachers have the responsibility to be a loving mediator between education, science, high morals and the younger generation. In his remarks, Archbishop Nathan referred to the concept of the teacher’s mission. ““Even though we receive education from teachers, no matter how important education is, the teachers take part in the divine creation which creates man, endowed with high morality and knowledge. It is true that we call all the workers of the education field labourers, as indeed it is a labourer’s affair; to cultivate, sow seeds, cherish and care for these seeds so that we receive the fruits we all dream of.”, noted Archbishop Nathan and wished that students always remember their teachers, so that all future generations welcome September 1st with joy and plentiful wishes.

At the conclusion, Archbishop Nathan asked for the blessings of our Lord to always b the students and guide the teachers in their honorable service.
