Blessing For Those In Distress

27/12/12 – Romanian Orthodox Church

On the Eve of Christmas, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, visited the old people living at the Centre of palliative care of “Saint Necatrie” of the Archdiocese of Bucharest.     Adriana Caruntu, director of the Centre of palliative care of “Saint Nectarie” provided more information for Trinitas TV: “The visit of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel to the patients in terminal state within Saint Nectarie Centre is the greatest proof of love and devotion of the Church for this category of patients who suffer so much and have a few days more to live. We have seven patients hospitalised for the time being. There are a few patients whose families still visit them, but there are also four social cases who don’t have anybody to take of them so that we represent their families.”

The Centre of palliative care was built from November 2011 – October 2012, and consecrated on 24 October 2012 within the events dedicated to the celebration of the saint patron of the Patriarchal Cathedral. The Centre has two floors and an attic, and besides the space allotted to the assisted people, there are also offices of social assistance, consulting rooms, and of psychological counselling.
