The Serbian Orthodox Bishop of Raska and Prizren, Teodosije, said a division of Kosmet would be a bad solution, as most Serbs and their religious sanctities are not in the north of the province. He said that, nevertheless, reality cannot ignored.
It is a wrong impression, though, that division is the most what Serbia can get from the Kosovo issue, he said, adding such a solution would be very detrimental to the state, church and people and would represent a historic mistake that we would never be able to remedy.
Commeting on attempts at passing off Serbian historical monuments in Kosmet as a so-called Kosovo cultural heritage, Bishop Teodosije told Radio Belgrade such attempts were doomed to failure as long as the Serbian Orthodox Church is in those churches and monasteries.
Until 2004, Kosovo Albanian extremists destroyed everything that reminded them of Serbian presence in Kosmet, but then launched a campaign aimed at calling all that their own cultural heritage, said Bishop Teodosije.
