Bishop Irinej: No changes in the stand of the Serbian Orthodox Church on the issue of Independence
30/6/2010
The bishop of Backa, Irinej Bulović, said in Vienna that there had been no changes in the stand of the Serbian Orthodox Church on the issue of the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo. No one in Serbia will recognize that independence and neither will the Serbian Orthodox Church, he told a press conference.
He pointed out that the Serbian Orthodox Church was not against the rights of any people in Kosmet, but that Kosmet is part of Serbia. Tonight, the 150th anniversary of the Serbian Orthodox Church Community St Sava in Vienna will be observed, in the presence of Serbian President Boris Tadic and Austrian President Heinz Fischer.
