Bishop Andrzej Malicki Elected President of the Polish Ecumenical Council

Warsaw-Poland: Bishop Andrzej Malicki, head of the Evangelical-Methodist Church in Poland was elected as the President of the Polish Ecumenical Council. He was elected during the General Assembly of the Polish Ecumenical Council which was held at the Christian Theological Academy in Warsaw held. Archbishop Abel (Orthodox Church), Bishop Maria Karol Babi (Old Catholic Mariavite Church) were elected as Vice-presidents, Fr. Adam Malina (Evangelical-Augsburg Church)as the secretary and bishop Marek Izdebski (Evangelical-Reformed Church) as the treasurer.

Bishop Andrzej Malicki was born in 1963 in Bydgoszcz. He graduated in theology from the Christian Theological Academy in Warsaw and the Higher Theological Seminary of Jan Łaski in Warsaw. In 1988 he was ordained a deacon, and in 1991 a presbyter of the Methodist Church in Poland. He was the pastor of the Methodist parishes in Kielce (1985–1997) and Katowice (1997–2013). In 2013, he was elected the superintendent of the main Evangelical-Methodist Church in Poland. In 2016, as the head of the Church, he became a member of the board of the Polish Ecumenical Council. Since 2017, he has been the president of the Bible Society in Poland.

The Polish Ecumenical Council is a national inter-Christian body that comprises the Baptist Church in Poland, the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland, the Evangelical-Methodist Church in Poland, the Evangelical-Reformed Church in Poland, the Polish Catholic Church in Poland, the Old Catholic Mariavite Church in Poland and the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church.
