Bicentenary Global Alumni Meet held at the Indian Orthodox Theological Semianry
September 2014
Development of the priestly ministry needs to be aimed at an all-round growth of the society, stated His Holiness Moran Mar Baselios Marthoma Paulos II while addressing the Bi-centenary Global Alumni Meet at the Orthodox Theological Seminary, fondly known as the Old Seminary. The public ceremony was held at 2 pm on Tuesday September 16 at the Smriti Complex. At the inaugural, His Holiness stated that, “the challenges of the modern society can only be overcome when the priest becomes a role model by fusing together a simple lifestyle with social commitment”.
Rev. Fr. Jacob Naluparayil, chief editor of Karunikan, led the morning study session, titled ‘Without being lazy in excitement, be zealous of spirit’. Following the study session, batch meetings were held in several groups. A rededication ceremony was conducted in the Old Seminary Chapel. A multilingual Taksa (Order of Liturgy) published under the auspices of the Orthodox Theological Seminary, which is also celebrating its Bicentenial Year, was released. HH Baselios Paulos II handed over the first copy to HG Kuriakose Mar Clemis.
Fr. Dr. Jacob Kurian, Principal of the Seminary welcomed the guests. Fr. Dr. T. J. Joshua, Fr. Dr. Johns Abraham Konat, Rev. M. Samuel Corepiscopa, Fr. Dr. K. T. Mathews and Fr. Philip Kuruvilla spoke at the ceremony. Program Convenor Fr. Dr. Ninan K. George proposed the Vote of Thanks.
Over 375 alumni, including bishops, corepiscopas, rambans, priests and deacons attended the event.
