Assyrian Monitor For Human Rights: 1300 Christian families displaced from the Syrian town of Hassake
27/6/15
It’s estimated that about 1300 Assyrian/Chaldean/Syriac families have been displaced from the city of Hassake and arrived to the city of Qamishli. Most of them are being housed in churches, schools, and monasteries, some in homes of host families.
A number of other families have fled to the town of Tel Tamer and Derbassiyeh (85 km north of Hassake).
In the wake of the latest attack by Islamic State (IS) terrorists on Hassake city on the evening of Wednesday June 24, 2015, the terrorist organization was able to gain control of the “Al Nashwa” neighborhood south of the city, where there are still clashes between members of IS and government forces backed by militias.
