Arrests for church theft

POLICE have arrested a married couple in connection with the theft of mainly silver church items.
Paphos CID believe they have found stolen items that link the Syrian man and Polish woman, both 37, to eight churches in the Paphos district, as well as to a church in Kilani in Limassol.
Paphoc CID head Nicos Tsappis said police searched the flat of the couple in Moutalou where they found various church items believed to have been recently stolen from churches in Paphos and Limassol, as well as €1,100 in cash.
The two deny any involvement in the church burglaries.
