Armenians hold demonstration in Washington

27/2/2010

On February 26, Armenian young people in Washington, D.C., USA, held a demonstration in protest at the Armenian pogroms in Sumgait, Azerbaijan, 22 years ago. The Union of Armenian Youth, youth wing of the Armenian Apostolic Church and many other young Armenians gathered in front of the Azerbaijani Embassy and demanded condemnation of the heinous crime committed in Sumgait. The demonstrators were carrying banners reading “Sumgait genocide a crime against humanity!”, “Freedom to Nagorno-Karabakh!”, “Truth about Sumgait!”, “Sumgait criminals remain unpunished,” etc…

The demonstrators demanded the punishment of masterminds behind and perpetrators of the crimes in Sumgait, Baku, Kirovadad and other places, as well as an end to the anti-Armenian hysteria in Azerbaijan.
