Armenian Pontiff Receives World Council of Churches Commission on Faith and Order

On June 21, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians received 31 members of the Standing Commission on Faith and Order of the World Council of Churches (WCC) in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. His Grace Bishop Hovakim Manukian, Director of the Inter Church Relations Office of the Mother See, introduced the members of the Standing Commission. He reflected on the close relationship and cooperation between the Armenian Apostolic Church and ecumenical organizations.
The Moderator of the Commission, Metropolitan of Constantia, Dr Vasilios Karayiannis (Church of Cyprus), expressed his appreciation to the Armenian Pontiff for the warm reception, and presented the ongoing discussion items of the Commission and matters concerning the reorganization of the WCC.
The Pontiff of All Armenians extended his blessings and appreciation to the guests in attendance, welcoming them to the spiritual center of all Armenians. His Holiness discussed the present conditions, challenges and activities of the Armenian Church in different spheres. He commented on Inter Church Relations, stating his wish that the love of God always be present in ecumenical endeavors and unite the Holy Church of Christ. The Catholicos of All Armenians also noted that the visit of the Commission members to Armenia would offer them an opportunity to learn more about the Armenian Church and Armenian spiritual life, as well as encourage the Armenian faithful and strengthen their faith.
At the conclusion of the meeting His Holiness held an open question and answer session with the commission members.
