29.04.201
Diocese of Armenian Apostolic Holy Orthodox Church in Georgia, Union of Armenians of Georgia, National Congress of Armenians of Georgia, Union of Armenians of Adjaria, Association of Armenian Women “Shushanik”, International Association of Pan-Armenian Games in Georgia, Union of Armenian Writers of Georgia “Vernatun”, Association “Shen”, Union “Hayartun”, Association of Georgian Armenians “Nor Serund” and Assembly of Armenians of Tbilisi on April 27, 2011 applied to the President of Georgia, His Excellency Mikheil Saakashvili, and to the Parliament of Georgia, asking recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.
The above mentioned organizations of the Armenian Community of Georgia in their letters addressed the President and the Parliament of Georgia mentioned that through recognition and condemnation of this crime against humanity our Motherland will contribute to the global mission of preventing and recognizing similar crimes in the future, which is essential for the harmonic development of the mankind.
It was mentioned also that despite the existing taboo, put on the fact of the Armenian Genocide within the Turkish society, a number of Turks themselves openly recognize and condemn the fact of performance of measures aimed at the total extermination of the Armenian population of the Ottoman Empire.
We believe that despite a number of circumstances, Georgia through recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide will prove that it firmly supports truth and justice.
