Armenian Catholicos thank Russian Church for Assistance in Karabakh Issue
Moscow, July 15, Interfax – Patriarch-Catholicos Karekin II of All Armenians thanked the Russian Orthodox Church for supporting the settlement of the conflict in Nagorno Karabakh.
“We note with gratitude the Russian Orthodox Church’s contribution to the cause of a fair and peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh issue, thanks to the efforts made by, blessed memory, Patriarch Alexy II” Karekin II told Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia at the Svyato-Danilov Monastery in Moscow on Wednesday.
Garegin II said the Armenian Church was ready “to cooperate with the Russian Church with love for the sake of peace on earth and the settlement of intense regional issues.”
The meeting was also attended by representatives of Moscow’s Armenian community, including Russian State Duma Deputy Speaker Artur Chilingarov and Chairman of the Union of Russia’ Armenians Ara Abramian.
