Armenian Catholicos meets AGBU President

Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II held a meeting Jan. 29 with Berge Setrakian, President of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU). The sides discussed the AGBU`s activities in the Armenian communities worldwide.
Garegin II pointed out the possibility of the AGBU`s cooperation with the dioceses of the Armenian Apostolic Church worldwide – cooperation in preserving Armenian identity.
Garegin II thanked the AGBU President and his wife, Vera Setrakian, for their contribution to the restoration and renovation works at the Holy See. Mr. Berge Setrakian informed Catholicos Garegin II of the construction of an AGBU center in Yerevan.
In its current activities the AGBU has focused on Armenian young people and preservation of their national identity, Setrakian said. The union implements various projects in Armenian communities worldwide – Internet Armenian language courses, summer camps and trips to Armenia are among them.
