Cairo-Egypt: Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby urged Ethiopia to reopen constructive dialogue with Egypt and Sudan Over the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam. He was speaking at the event dedicated to the opening of the new Alexandrian Province of the Episcopal Church (Anglican Communion) in Egypt. The Archbishop stated that natural resources are not the sole property of individual countries.

“I appeal to the Ethiopian government to show that they will use the dam responsibly, caring for their neighbors downstream. Please show that this dam is not a reason to worry” urged the Archbishop.

During his visit to Egypt, Archbishop Justin Welby was received by Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria on the 10th of October 2021.
