QUNEITRA, (SANA) – Archbishop of Greek Orthodox Church in Jerusalem Atalla Hanna underlined that targeting Syria is an attempt to target Arabism and the Resistance.
During his visit to Baqata Village in the occupied Syrian Arab Golan on Saturday, the Archbishop expressed the Palestinians’ solidarity with Syria in the face of the media and political attack due to its pro- resistance and anti-hegemony stances.
His Beatitude said, “Those who attack Syria in a time when it is facing an ordeal do not represent but themselves and are not allowed to speak on our behalf whatever their positions are, for the national duty says that we have to stand by Syria, which has always supported the Palestinian issue and embraced the resistance .”
Receiving the Archbishop, Sheikh Jadd al-Karim Nasser underlined that people of the occupied Syrian Arab Golan are adherent to their Syrian Arab identity, stressing Golan people’s rejection of any forms of foreign interference in Syria’s internal affairs.
it is sad to see a Bishop refer to “the resistence”, which history has shown time and time again as code word for violent uprisings, including so called suicide bombings and murdering families in cold blood, such as the Fogels. I would say he is placing nationalism over his role as a leader of Christians in Judea and Samaria, but then again, there has never been a nation called “Palestine”. This could also be example of dhimmitude.
