“The Greek-American community will continue to help Greece and its people,” underscored Archbishop Demetrios of America during his meeting with a delegation from the Holy Archdiocese of Athens in NY.
The Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church of America noted that in light of the estimated long duration of the crisis, the Greeks of America will support their home country to the degree it is possible.
The Archbishop of America received in his office in NY the vice president of the philanthropic NGO “Apostoli” of the Archdiocese of Athens, Bishop Gabriel of Diavlia, and the general director of the NGO, Kostis Dimtsas. The meeting was also attended by Bishop Antonios of Fasiani, the executive director of charity organization IOCC Konstantinos Triantafyllou and his colleague Paschalis Papouras.
In its official announcement, the Archdiocese of America noted that the meeting was an opportunity to present and discuss the philanthropic work of the Church as it provides relief to the suffering people of Greece and coordinate some aspects of the assistance offered by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, the National Philoptochos and IOCC.
The two Greek representatives of “Apostoli” also met with the President of the National Philoptochos, Aphrodite Skeadas, and thanked her for the support of the Philoptochos to “Apostoli.”
