Archbishop Anastatios inaugurates modern Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology Centre in Tirana, Albania.
A new, modern-equipped Ophthalmology and Otorhinolaryngology Unit was inaugurated in Tirana by the Archbishop of Tirana, Durrës and All Albania Anastasios, in the presence of eminent ophthalmologists from Albania and Greece.
The medical centre contains General Opthalmology, Glaucoma, Laser, Fundus (Fluro-angiography, OCT) Units.
This modern centre is located in a private three-floor building and is an expansion of the Medical Centre “Evangelismos” of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania, which has operated since 1999 with 23 areas of specialization offering modern medical services.
More than three million Euros have been collected from various sponsors for the building facilities and the advanced equipment under the auspices of Archbishop Anastasios. More than 1,300,000 patients have been examined and more than 3,000,000 tests have been run ever since the opening day – regardless the religious beliefs of the patients.
The Orthodox Church also runs Primary Care Medical centers in four other cities of Albania.
